Calling all young singers in Peel Region to compete! It's your time to shine at the The Eleanor Calbes Memorial Scholarship Vocal Competition. Are you ready to compete? This year the event takes place at Glenbrook Presbyterian Church 3535 South Common Court Mississauga on Saturday November 23, 2024 at Noon. ​Criteria: 1.   Must be a non-professional vocalist between the ages of 9 and 19 and living in Peel Region.  2. Memorize and perform one song which demonstrates vocal ability from either  classical or Musical Theatre repertoire. 3. Bring music printed double sided, 3-hole punched in a binder. 4. A professional pianist will accompany all participants. Teachers are not allowed to play for their students nor will participants be permitted to accompany themselves. 5. Participants will be grouped by age in Junior (9-12), Intermediate (13-16) or Senior (17-19) categories. 6. Performances will be adjudicated and a participant from each category will receive a cash award to assist in their vocal training. PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS, MUSIC DIRECTORS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS We are looking for fresh talent to apply for our upcoming 2025 production of 9 to 5, The Musical. We want to hear from you about your past projects, your vision and what you have learned about CCMP and the shows we produce. Paid positions. The show will be performed at Meadowvale Theatre in Mississauga on March 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 2025 at 8pm and March 16, 22, 23, 2025 at 2pm. Tech week will begin Saturday March 8, 2025, and will run until Thursday March 13, 2025. Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 6:30 pm until 10:00 pm. This schedule can start in December for 2 weeks and then will resume Friday January 3rd, 2025, until Friday March 7th, 2025. Interviews will be scheduled for Tuesday May 14, and Wednesday May 15, 2024, beginning at 6:00 pm at the ReMax Office: 6850 Millcreek Drive, 2nd floor, Mississauga ON L5N 4J9 Times will be assigned on a first received basis. Please submit your request to interview along with your resume and an outline of your vision for the show as it pertains to the position that you are applying for. About the Day... On Saturday, November 18, 2023, CCMP once again hosted its annual Vocal Scholarship Competition. There were 15 young vocalists in attendance who were ready to share their love of singing with their family and friends, as well as the three adjudicators. Joining us this year to select the winners were Jaime Marr, who heads up the Arts Department at St. Roch Secondary School and 2 accomplished vocalists and CCMP Alumni, Julie Cabri and Erin Mouchian. It was a lovely afternoon of music, as the young singers braved their jitters and performed their selections with support from Victor Cheng on the Piano. Our winners for 2023 are: Blythe Harvey, Junior Category; Ella Leven-Rivlin, Intermediate Category; and Mina-Rosa Iamonaco.
