AUDITIONS

The Who, Where and When of Auditioning

 

City Centre Musical Productions is excited to present 9 TO 5, THE MUSICAL at Meadowvale Theatre in March 2025. Please note that this show is Rated PG-13.  Please note that there may be some content in this show that is out of date today, that was wrong then and wrong now. No content is removed from this show to maintain historical accuracy to the creator's message and intent but we want to acknowledge its impact, learn from it and spark a conversation to create a better future. The content may be uncomfortable or offensive for some people. Please research the show and ensure that you are comfortable with the content before signing up to audition. Auditions are inclusive to everyone 18 years and older. Review the roles available and choose one that is right for you.

All candidates who would like to be considered for a role in CCMP's show will be required to audition with prepared songs and will be required to participate in a dance call.

 

Audition times are available by appointment in 5-minute time slots. You will receive a confirmation email ​after you book your audition. ​

·     Audition dates are Tuesday, June 27 and Thursday, June 29, 2023 - 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM

·     Call-backs will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Exact times TBD.

·     Auditions will be held by appointment on June 27 and 29, 2023 in the Gladys Hagen Senior Room in the South Common Community Centre located at 2233 South Millway, Mississauga, ON L5L 3H7.

What to expect at your Audition?

​

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your audition time with a completed Audition Form and allow yourself time to settle in, prepare yourself and review your material.

  • Printed copies of the Audition Form will also be available at registration for those who may need one.

  • Please include a photo of yourself with your audition form for casting purposes. If you don't have a photo, we will take a quick photo at the time of registration for casting purposes.​

  • During your audition slot you will perform a memorized musical theatre song and learn a choreographed dance number to perform in your dance call. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the dance portion of the audition.

  • The audition profile form will ask you to list any dates that you will not be available for rehearsals – please ensure that you complete this section to the best of your knowledge as we will be crafting the rehearsal schedule based on all conflicts listed. 

    Song Requirements

  • Please prepare a cut of approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute of 1 song in the style of the show, but not from the show itself. (pop-rock, contemporary).

  •  Your song choice should reflect your vocal range.

  • Please bring sheet music (preferably double-sided in a binder) in the correct key for the accompanist.

  • While working with the accompanist is preferred, we will accept pre-recorded piano accompaniment tracks (No background vocals or other instruments please). 

  •  If you use piano tracks, please bring your own device and speaker with your tracks ready to go. The track must be edited to match what you are singing. We will have one Bluetooth speaker for your use, if needed.

  • If you have any questions or concerns about finding sheet music for your songs, choosing the correct key etc., please do not hesitate to contact our producers via email, and our Musical Director will be happy to assist.

       Dance Call Requirements​

  • ​You will attend that day’s dance workshop before or after your audition slot where the choreographer will teach you a dance routine to perform at the end of the dance call

  • Call times are 7:50-8:15 PM and 8:40 - 9:00 PM

  • You will be able to choose the dance call time closest to your audition when you book

  • Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes appropriate for the 20-minute dance movement portion of the audition and have fun!​  ​

  • Successful candidates for roles will be notified by email unless otherwise stated

  • Please ensure you list an accurate email address and phone number on your audition form

​If you already have an audition booked and need to change or cancel your audition, PLEASE update your appointment from the link in your confirmation email.

I'VE BEEN CAST IN THE SHOW!... SO NOW WHAT?

  • If you are offered a role, you must complete the City Centre Musical Productions Inc (CCMP) Membership Form and pay a membership fee ​of $40.00 single or $80.00 family​. This a requirement to be insured and to be allowed to perform on the Meadowvale Theatre stage as per The City of Mississauga policy.

  • Final casting may be published on the CCMP website, the CCMP Facebook Group and Page (look for City Centre Musical Productions), IG, Twitter and may be shared with our partner groups like The Encore Series website or others. We will take opportunities to promote the show using various forms of media. By signing the Audition Form, you have consented to a Photo Release and Waiver statement.

  • We ask that every cast member assist us with other areas of the production. Please indicate on your audition form tasks that you, your friends or your family members would like to volunteer for 

       Rehearsals: 

  • A rehearsal schedule will be created by the Director based on your conflicts listed on your audition form. You will get one email from the Stage Manager asking you to confirm your conflicts before the schedule is created.

  • Rehearsals will commence December 2, 2024, then there will be a break for the holidays and rehearsals will resume January 3, 2025, until March 7, 2025, when we move into the theatre. Please consult the dates outlined in the Audition Profile Form. ​

  • Rehearsals will be held at *Meadowvale Village Hall 6970 Second Line West, Mississauga, ON L5W 1A1 on ​​​ Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays - 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM. *Venue to be confirmed in the fall.

  • Please check the rehearsal/Tech week/performance dates listed above to ensure you are available for all dates before auditioning.  All cast members are required to be available to help during the ‘Move-in’ and ‘Move-out’ process.

  • Family Day - Monday February 17, 2025. There will be a scheduled run through rehearsal and attendance will be mandatory.

  • IMPORTANT NOTE:  Cast must be available for ALL scheduled rehearsals and be punctual.

  • Dance Rule: Any absences could cause you to be removed from a dance number due to time restrictions for make up rehearsals.

  • Any additional rehearsals may be scheduled at the production team’s discretion

       

       TECH WEEK AND SHOW:

  • Tech Week begins with Move-in on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 2025. from 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM and continues Monday March 10, 2025, until Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM -11:00 PM as tech rehearsals.  Attendance is mandatory as called. Dates and times may change at the discretion of the Stage Manager.

  • Opening night is Friday, March 14, 2025. Call time is 6:30 PM and curtain 8:00 PM unless otherwise stated.

  • Show Dates are March 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 2025 at 8:00 PM and March 16, 22, 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM

  • Performances will be at Meadowvale Theatre 6315 Montevideo Road Mississauga ON (Corner of Battleford Road and Montevideo Road)

  • All show nights will have 6:30 PM call and vocal warm-ups will begin at 7:00 PM unless otherwise stated by the Stage Manager

  • March Break: March 10-14, 2025 *NOTE: March Break begins on our move in weekend and runs through to the opening weekend of the show run. Attendance is mandatory during this time period.

  • Please check the rehearsal/tech week/performance dates listed above to ensure you are available for all dates before auditioning.  All cast members are required to be available to help during the ‘Move-in’ and ‘Move-out’ process.

 

  • SCENTS AND SENSITIVITIES: CCMP and the artistic team request that everyone be respectful and sensitive to others in our rehearsal and theatre spaces and to please refrain from wearing any fragrances, perfumes or using essential oils/ diffusers due to scent sensitivities and allergies of others.
