AN UPDATE FROM CCMP
The Hunchback of Notre Dame has been rescheduled for March 12-14, 2021 provided that the Public Health recommendations, The City of Mississauga requirements and Peel mandates can be met to ensure safety. The health and well being of our company and patrons is of the utmost priority to City Centre Musical Productions.
We wish to express our thanks to all of our patrons and supporters who came to see the first 4 shows of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We sincerely appreciate all your kind messages, understanding and patience at this time. We are hopeful to see your all soon.
A message from
The Encore Series
The Encore Series and its member groups have loved bringing quality entertainment to Meadowvale Theatre for over 27 years.
You are very important to us. We want to thank you for your patience. We have been cautiously working, with Meadowvale Theatre, at planning our future. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect all our lives in ways we never imagined.
The safety of our patrons, volunteers, performers and musicians is our first priority. Community Theatre relies heavily on ticket sales for continued sustainability. 100% of ticket sale revenue is used to produce the Encore Series shows. An average budget per show runs between $80,000 - $100,000 for 8 performances and takes up to 2 years of planning. Over and above, each show relies on an average of 15,000 volunteer hours - equivalent to $225,000 if paid a minimum wage. Unfortunately, due to the current impacts of the pandemic, a number of community theatre companies in the GTA have had no other choice but to cease operations or go dark permanently.
With you we can continue!
We want and need to complete our commitment to you, our audience and patrons, by finishing our 2019/2020 season. In order to do so, we have rescheduled the remaining performances of Hunchback of Notre Dame and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to March and April 2021.
We continue to monitor Peel Public Health and Provincial Government directions with the hope that we can safely return to large group gatherings by this time. We look forward to readying and refreshing The Hunchback of Notre Dame, after its forced hiatus, and the opportunity to complete the rehearsals and remaining work for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We are working with our partners at Meadowvale Theatre to ensure that there will be enhanced safety and cleaning protocols in place for our return.
As a result of the current ban by the Government of Ontario on large venues and theatres, we are unable to start any new productions. Auditions, Building, Rehearsing, and Costuming requires us to be able to meet and work closely in large groups commencing now. For these reasons, and the safety of our members, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020/2021 Encore Series Season.
Hunchback of Notre Dame will be presented starting on March 12, 2021 and Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang will be presented starting on April 16, 2021 providing it is safe to do so.
In order to plan our 2021/2022 season when Meadowvale Theatre is closed for renovations, we intend to engage our patrons and subscribers in a short survey. Please look out for that survey in the coming month. Your feedback is important to us.
